newest employee

In the photo below Chris our newest employee examining some table legs that our customer asked us to copy. I am taking pictures so we can further examine them back at the shop, and Chris is getting a close up view. Chris has had a good idea today, he is suggesting that I post the punch-out list for job 133 in the shop. I think that i brilliant, and I did it right away. We should consider having a Kaizen event to make a place for these list where they can go and not be damaged and moved around. It makes me think of my Kaizen event over the past weekend. I bought some stack able containers from graingers and made it into a tote for carrying all the parts that I need when I am installing cabinet doors. The kit contains on type of hinge arm and four types of hinge bases for the different applications and also the screws.

wood turning

here I am turning some exterior balusters for my house. I made them out of douglas fir. I don't do lots of turning but I know enough not to get hurt. it took me 35 minutes per baluster at my best time. I needed 14 of them, it was a tedious job, but at times interesting.

our van

the picture below shows our van with the best set up we have ever had. After 12 years of ownership this set up is the best performing one we've had. You can see here it is fully loaded with kitchen cabinets on two levels and still we have the tools with us. We are here at day one of an install we have the fridge cabinet on the upper level and then all the pedestals for the other base cabinets on the lower level. this particular job doesn't have any upper cabinets so we will start with the base cabinets starting with the fridge cabinet first. I like to start with fridge because it is the biggest and most difficult to move. so that goes in first and everything plays off of that. on the second level of the van I have 55" horizontally across the doors because it is above the wheel wells. the supports for the second level easily come out and store in the van when not in use
